Wines for Dad!

IMG 3473

Notes From the Cellar…..

Happy Father’s Day weekend! It’s another beautiful one to go and get dad what he really wants- a big dinner over the grill and the wine or beer to match! Stop by this Friday from 3-6 and Saturday as we sample a few special wines that will be sure to make the old guy happy.
Don’t forget we have a great selection of cheese with some new additions this past week as well as other goodies to nibble on. If spirits are dad’s thing we always have a great selection of quality craft spirits to treat him to!
This weekend’s wines:
’15 Domaine de Fontsainte Gris de Gris Rosé, Corbières, FR- Consistently one of our favorite rosés from Corbières apellation in Southwestern France, where the hillside vineyards benefit from sunny southern exposure coupled with the cooling influences of the Mediterranean that allow for the development of balancing acidity. This rosé is crystal salmon colored, with red berry and cherry fruits and a mineral palate backed up with mouthwatering acidity.
’13 L’Oliveto Russian River Valley Chardonnay, Sonoma County, CA- Sourced from old vine vineyard sites throughout the Russian River Valley, the Brack Mountain Wine Co follows strict sustainable farming practices in their vineyards as well as the growers they partner with. Fermented using indigenous yeasts followed by long malolactic fermentation and lees stirring in mostly used French oak, this chardonnay displays ripe fruits- apricots, melon, apple and lemon on a creamy, buttered toast palate and well balanced acidity.
’14 Illahe Estate Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, OR- With vineyards over 300ft above sea level, Illahe Vineyards practices Organic farming with no irrigation to help develop concentration of flavors. Hand harvested and fermented with native yeasts, it is then barrel aged for 10 month in new French & Oregon oak. With strawberry and blackberry fruits and hints of cocoa it is soft on the palate and maintains fresh acidity.
’13 Cornas, Domaine Vincent Paris Granit 30, Rhone Valley, FR- This is a real treat for Dad! One of the young stars of the Northern Rhone, Vincent Paris comes from a long line of winemakers with exceptional parcels throughout the region. The Granit 30 refers to vine ages as well as the pitch of the hillside vineyards- also to the 30% lack of oak aging of the grapes. Practicing Organic and Biodynamic farming, the 100% Syrah displays that dark, rustic power of the Northern Rhone with red and black fruit, cracked pepper and a mineral, balanced backbone and a long, grainy finish.
As always take 10% off any 3 wines we are tasting.
On the beer front we have newer arrivals from Down the Road, Rogue, Boulevard, Avery, Oskar Blues, Castle Island, and Von Trapp.
New Hours- Open until 8:00 Tuesday- Saturday. 12:00-5:00 Sundays.
Cheers!
