Friday Night Wines

IMG 3440

Notes From the Cellar…..

It’s still summer no matter the brief cool down and, as always, we will be pouring some new wines we think make great summer options to enjoy on warm evenings (afternoons too for that matter), with local seafood or in the backyard by the BBQ. Join us Friday from 3-6 as we sample a delicious red and white from Italy and rosé from Corsica!
We hope everyone can make it to Sportworks this Saturday & Sunday for their Grand Opening Celebration! Congratulations to Mike and Colleen!

’15 Domaine Vaccelli, Juste Ciel Ile de Beauté Rosé, Corsica, FR- Roughly translates as "Good Heavens!”, this rosé has been family farmed since the 1960’s on wheathered granite slopes with vines averaging 50 years. Farmed organically since 2008, this blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Carignan & Sciacarello is a light salmon colored wine that displays its berry & melon fruit framed by fresh acidity and a lean, mineral mouthfeel.
’14 Cordero di Montezemolo, Langhe Arneis, Piedmonte, IT- Grown in Piedmont since the 1400’s, Arneis shared a historical relationship with Nebbiolo, often blended in Barolo to soften its harsh tannins or planted within the same fields so that birds would be attracted to the sweet scent of its grapes and keep them away from the more valuable Nebbiolo ones. With over 200 years of family winemaking in and around Barolo, the family has begun the certification process of Organic farming. With a highly aromatic bouquet of peaches, flowers and citrus, it is medium bodied with mouthcoating fruit and lip-smacking acidity. Excellent as an aperitif, with seafood or rich pasta dishes.
’14 Cantina Santa Maria la Palma, Le Bombarde Monica di Sardegna, Sardinia, IT- On the northwest coast of Sardinia is the co-operative of Santa Maria la Palma. Formed in 1946 to aid a recovering post-war economy, and to provide the facilities for winemaking, the co-op has endured to this day. With steadily falling yields, the focus is happily on quality over quantity. Monica was originally a Spanish grape but is now found almost exclusively on Sardinia. Definitely a warm weather grape, its black cherry/cranberry flavors are seamlessly integrated with its backbone of acidity and silky tannins. Serve with a slight chill on a warm evening and pairs well with a variety of food from grilled tuna to pizza or pasta dishes and BBQ’d ribs.
As always take 10% off any 3 wines we are tasting.
On the beer front we have newer arrivals from Down the Road, Rogue, Boulevard, Avery, Oskar Blues, Castle Island, and Von Trapp.
New Hours- Open until 8:00 Tuesday- Saturday. 12:00-5:00 Sundays.
Cheers!
