Notes From the Cellar…..

The summer is in full force with another hot weekend but we've got what you need to quench your thirst and sip outdoors (or let's face- with the air conditioner blasting!) This Friday evening we will have a special guest pouring some of his great wines; Amar from Charles River Wine Co. will be here starting at 4:00 with a great lineup of some of our favorite selections! This is a great chance to sample some delicious wines and learn about the producers and their wines!
Don’t forget about our wide range of gourmet cheeses, charcuterie and other goodies for an afternoon on the beach or snacks for a gathering! We have plenty of ice, cold beer and cocktail fixings for whatever your taste.
This weekend's lineup:
'15 Domaine de la Fouquette Rosé, Côtes de Provence ,France- One of our consistent favorites in the store each year. Certified Organic vineyards in the hills above Provence. Blend of Grenache/Cinsault/Syrah/Rolle. $19.99
'15 Mas de Pampelonne Rosé, Côtes de Provence, France- The Mas de Pampelonne estate borders Saint Tropez’s most famous beach on the plain of Ramatuelle. Founded in the late 1880's it remains family operated under the great granddaughter's successful guidance since the early 1970s. A blend of 40% Grenache, 40% Cinsault, and 20% Tibouren. $21.99
'13 Evolúcío, Tokaj Furmint, Hungary- Although not a household name, this is a wonderfully seasonal wine. The Furmint grape is used to produce the famous sweet wines of Tokaji, but can also be perfectly dry. Aromas of green apple lead to a crisp, clean mineral characteristic, followed by rich acidity and vibrant fruitiness. $13.99
'14 Varner, El Camino Vineyard Chardonnay, Santa Barbara County, California- Twin brothers Bob & Jim Varner have made a name for themselves as quality focused grower/winemakers practicing organic farming and minimal intervention in their winemaking. With only a quarter being aged in French oak the El Camino shows off its bright tropical fruit flavors with citrus and apples and nervy acidity; standing in great contrast to big, overly oaked chardonnays. $29.99
'12 Bodegas y Viñedos Maurodos, Prima, Toro, Spain- Begun by Mariano Garcia, the former winemaker of the famous Vega Sicilia winery in Ribera del Duero, and his sons Eduardo and Alberto, Bodegas y Vinedos Maurodos is planted mainly with Tinta de Toro, which comes from the same family as Tempranillo, but adapted to Toro over centuries. Wild herb and floral aromas with red fruit and spice notes supported by light, firm tannins and fresh acidity. Medium bodied but showing great intensity & a distinct character. $22.99
As always take 10% off any 3 wines we are tasting.
On the beer front we have newer arrivals from Castle Island, Jack's Abby, Dark Horse, Stone & Lord Hobo. Also a limited quantity of a Trillium collaboration with De Proefbrouwerij Lochristi!!
Cheers!

Drink French Wine!

Notes From the Cellar…..

It's a hot, soupy mess this weekend so we're pouring some hot weather wines from our friends across the Atlantic! All refreshing sippers are best enjoyed cold; the Cabernet Franc especially benefits from a slight chill that softens it up and makes it a great backyard sipper with grilled meats! Join us Friday from 3-6 and Saturday to sample a Provence rosé, Sauvignon Blanc from one of the Loire Valley's premier domaines and this soft, fruity Cab Franc from Anjou- enjoy the wines and yes the AC will be cranking!
Don’t forget about our wide range of gourmet cheeses, charcuterie and other goodies for an afternoon on the beach or snacks for a gathering!
'15 Mas de Gourgonnier, Les Baux de Provence Rosé, Provence, France- Organically grown for over thirty years, all wines are made with a minimal use of sulfites. A blend of mostly Grenache with some Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault & Mourvedre. The grenache gives the wine beautiful strawberry notes while the Mourvedre lends spicy notes and adds complexity. $18.99
'14 Laporte "Le Petit Duc" Sauvignon Blanc, France- Domaine Laporte has been family run for generations and established as one of the top Sancerre producers in the region. Purchased in the 1980's by Domaine Henri Bourgeois, it is the blending of 2 of the more renowned families of the Loire. Produced by these skilled families, this Sauvignon Blanc shows classic tropical fruits, citrus and mouthwatering acidity. $12.99
'13 Anjou Rouge, Domaine du Petit Clocher, Loire Valley, France- 4th generation family winemakers in Anjou on the western half of the Loire, this 100% Cabernet Franc is all estate fruit & vinified exclusively in stainless steel tanks. Lightweight & juicy, it is dark ruby in colour with an expressive nose of ripe red and black fruits- cherry, blackcurrant & cranberry. With fresh acidity and light tannin and good length on the palate, it is delightful with a light chill on it, making it an easy pairing for salads, poultry and grilled meat. $14.99
As always take 10% off any 3 wines we are tasting.
On the beer front we have newer arrivals from Jack's Abby, Dark Horse, Harpoon, Stone, Lord Hobo, Brewmaster Jack, Down the Road, & Boulevard.
Cheers!

Summer Wines!

Notes From the Cellar…..

For this weekend's respite from the heat and a little much needed rain we're pouring a few exciting new wines to sample that we think make excellent pairings for dinners at home and provide an intriguing surprise! Join us Friday from 3-6 and Saturday to sample an Organic Provence Rosé, a highly aromatic blend from Alsace and a rich and smooth Cabernet blend from Italy!
We are stocked up lots of new beer, wine, spirits & mixers; don’t forget about our wide range of gourmet cheeses, charcuterie and other goodies for an afternoon on the beach or snacks for a gathering!
'15 Domaine de la Chapelle St. Victor Rosé, Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence, France- Family owned since the 1940's by the Breban family who started making sparkling wines in their garage, this organically farmed blend of Grenache, Cincault & Syrah is a classically styled Provence rosé- pale pink with sweet berry fruits, rose petals and refreshing acidity.
'14 Laurent Barth "Racines Métisses", Alsace, France- Organically farmed blend of 3 of the 4 Noble Alsatian varietals with some of the lowest yields in the region to ensure intensity of flavors. This a delicious wine that is intensely aromatic with wild flowers, orchard fruits and honey. With the complexity, acidity and depth of fruit it pairs well with Asian cuisine, particularly curry dishes as well as seafood stews or pork dishes.
'13 Maculan "Brentino", Veneto, Italy- Located in the charming town of Breganze in the foothills of the Dolomite Alps, the vineyards benefit from great southern exposure to the sun and protection from the cold mountain winds. A Bordeaux- inspired blend of 50/50 Cabernet Sauvignon on Merlot, this wine is full bodied and maintains its fresh fruit character by aging half in oak and half in stainless steel. With blackberry and black cherry fruits and a hint of cedar it is dry and well balanced with smooth tannins on the finish.
As always take 10% off any 3 wines we are tasting.
On the beer front we have newer arrivals from Brewmaster Jack, Long Trail, SixPoint, Mayflower, Down the Road, Boulevard, Cisco, Firestone Walker & Two Roads!
Cheers!
