Notes From the Cellar…..

Finally after a month of April showers, the sun is shining and the temperatures are going up! Nothing reminds us of the warm days to come like a cold bottle of rosé and the chance to finally fire the grill back up! This weekend we will be featuring a rosé and some new sparkling summer pounders named for one of the iconic beaches of Saint Tropez in Southern Provence- Pampelonne, as well as a soft, easy drinking Malbec from its home in Cahors, France.
New on the beer front we are excited to be one of the only stores on the South Shore to be carrying beer from Exhibit A in Framingham- currently in stock the Cat’s Meow IPA and Opus 3 a rotating (slightly) Sour. New in and super fresh! Also The Tap, Aeronaut, Bunker Brewing, Relic & the latest Nightshift releases!
This weekend’s wines we will be pouring Friday 3-6 and Saturday:

Pampelonne French 75- A St. Germain cocktail in a can! White wine, elderflower, sparkling water & citrus $12.99 4/pk (10% off this weekend)
Georges Vigouroux Gouleyant Malbec, Cahors, France- Le Gouleyant (in French, it means easy to drink) is a selection of the best Malbecs grown on the highest gravely and clay terraces of the Cahors Appellation. April Showers Bring May Flowers??

Notes From the Cellar…..

This weekend’s featured wines both hail from Italy, where rolling hills and sunny Mediterranean climate are all you need to picture while sipping them to take you far from these gloomy spring days. Join us Friday from 3-6 and Saturday to sample a Tuscan rosé from a fantastic Chianti producer as well as a dark fruited, juicy Nero d’Avola from the hot climate of Sicily.
On the beer front we have lots of new additions from the latest Night Shift releases to The Tap Brewing, Finback, Banded Horn, Aeronaut, Bunker, Relic & Down the Road.
We have lots of new cheeses in stock as well as some great charcuterie and plenty of great crackers and fixings to make a great cheese board!
Poggio al Sole Primavera IGT Rosato Toscana, Italy- Located in the heart of the rolling hills of Tuscany, Chianti covers a large area full of many producers, with the best vineyards located in the Classico sub-region. Giovanni and Kathrin Davaz are the proprietors of Poggio al Sole, a small, quality conscious producer with about 18 hectares of vines. 100% Sangiovese, this “Super Tuscan” rosé is a flat-out delicious bottle of wine. Aromatic, with notes of wild strawberry and tangerines it is fresh on the palate with a lingering elegance on the long finish. A perfect aperitif, it pairs well with salads, salmon and grilled chicken. $15.99
Bacaro Nero d'Avola "Terre Siciliane", Sicily, Italy- After a long period of stagnation & over-production, Sicily is becoming a much more vital and serious wine region as they have become more concerned with quality over quantity. Sicily's most popular grape, Nero d'Avola performs well in its hot, dry climate producing dark colored wines with dark fruit characteristics. These vineyards are located in a slightly cooler microclimate that helps building acidity in the wine. With ripe blackberry fruits, prunes and a little note of liquorice and pepper, this wine has a juicy character while retaining richness. With firm tannins and medium acidity, this wine can be enjoyed on its own or with food. Pairs with grilled meats & vegetables or roasted game birds. $10.99
Winter Hours:
Tues-Sat. 10:30- 7:00

IMG 5045

Notes From the Cellar…..

Here’s to a beautiful Easter Weekend and a great Marathon Monday! We have wines lined for sampling this weekend that make excellent pairings for traditional Easter dinners as well as grilled favorites. Join us Friday from 3-6 and Saturday to sample these offerings from around the world that will appeal to a wide range of tastes and cuisine.
Domaine de Fontsainte Gris de Gris Rosé, Corbières, France- Consistently one of our favorite rosés from Corbières apellation in Southwestern France. This rosé is crystal salmon colored, with red berry and cherry fruits and a mineral palate backed up with mouthwatering acidity. A wonderful pairing with sunshine, salads, appetizers, shellfish and a great option for ham dinners. $17.99 (10% off this weekend)
Biegler Pinot Blanc, Thermenregion, Austria- this gem of a winery is located just south of Vienna with vineyards in perfect alignment with sun and soil. Bright yellow in color with intense stone fruit & floral aromas and green apple flavors. Zesty and bright with medium palate weight, it is versatile partner for a variety of dishes from vegetables including asparagus to honeyed ham and Asian cuisine. $13.99 (10% off this weekend)
Von Winning ‘Winnings’ Riesling, Pfalz, Germany- The fact that this estate is crafting some of the very best dry wines in Germany is no fluke, rather a result of nearly obsessive winemaker Stephan Attman’s commitment to both Organic cultivation and meticulous work in the cellar. With just a pittance of sweetness on the front palate it is bursting with aromatic fruits and refreshing acidity. This is an impressive offering from one of the region’s best estates. Pairs seamlessly with food- complementing the saltiness of ham, the spice of Asian and Indian cuisine and possessing the depth and structure to enjoy with meat dishes as well! $22.99 (10% off this weekend)
Oregon Trails Wine Company, Willamette Valley, Oregon- 2015 was another exceptional year for Willamette Valley Pinot Noirs with a hot, dry growing season and a cool turn into fall that allowed for ripe fruit growth and well balanced acidity. Richly colored and full or raspberry and strawberry fruits, it maintains a rich, smooth palate with vibrant acidity and structured balance. Pinot Noir is always a versatile food wine pairing well with a variety of meat dishes from poultry and pork to red meat. $19.99 (10% off this weekend)
Domain Charvin Le Poutet Côtes-du-Rhone, France- Regarded as one of the top talents in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Laurent Charvin is one of the few winemakers using traditional methods like whole cluster fermentation in concrete tanks. This CDR is a blend of 80% Grenache, with about 7% each Mourvedre, Carignan & Syrah with vines an average of 40years old and farmed Organically. Silky and elegant on the palate, this drinks like a baby Châteauneuf-du-Pape with red and blackberry fruits, hints of lavender and herb, balanced acidity and long, smooth tannins on the finish. A perfect pairing with red meats and Easter lamb without being too overpowering for ham dishes. $26.99 (10% off this weekend)
